I teach a multi-age 4th and 5th grade class in Salem, MA. My class read The Trouble With Jeremy Chance last year, which is a story about a young New Hampshire boy living at the time of the Great Molasses Flood. My kids really enjoyed the book, and the author, George Harrar came to our class to discuss the book and how it developed. I would heartily recommend the book to this age group -- familiar setting, strong characters and meaningful plot.

You may also be interested in my historical novel for Children, A Place for Joey, which takes place in the North End in 1919, and combines the Italian immigrant experience with the Great Molasses Flood.
